The Bible, God’s Holy Word gives us the answer.
I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Let me ask you a question: “ ARE YOU A GOOD PERSON?” _______ Yes / No
Do you think good people who do their best go to Heaven?
*When you lived at home with Mom and Dad, Did you OBEY them 100% of the time? ____
If you saw a child disobeying would you say they were being a little rebellious or stubborn? ___
When we disobey, that is a form of rebellion.
The Bible teaches in I Samuel 15 that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as the sin of idolatry.
The 5th commandment is Honor thy father and thy mother…. Eph. 6 tells us, Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
*Have you ever told a lie? ______
What do you call someone who tells lies? ______
Answer: “LIAR”
The 9th commandment tells us, “Thou shalt not bear false witness”
Note: You only have to tell ONE to qualify! (Note: Revelation 21:27 “a lie”)
*Have you ever stolen ANYTHING? ______ (If NO, You just said that you were a Liar!)
What do you call someone who steals? _____ (Hint: Not a “Stealer”. That is a football team who lost the super bowl!)
Answer: “THIEF”
The 6th commandment says, “Thou shalt not steal”
*Have you ever looked upon the opposite sex with lust? _____
The Bible says that if you even look upon the opposite sex with lust, you have committed adultery with them already in your heart. (Matthew 5:27-28)
The 7th commandment is “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
*Have you ever used the Lord’s name in vain? _____
The 3rd commandment is “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.” (Exod. 20:7)
If you were honest, by your own admission, you’ve just admitted to being a rebellious, lying, thieving, adulterer, and blasphemer at heart. This is only some of the commandments.
The Bible says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
Why the commandments you ask. Because God’s measuring stick of morality and ours are different. We measure our goodness compared to everyone else. God measures our goodness compared to Him. Note what God says…
Romans 3:19-20 “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
James 2:10, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
Galatians 3:24, “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.”
IF YOU STOOD BEFORE A JUST AND HOLY GOD, WOULD HE HAVE TO SAY THAT YOU WERE INNOCENT OR GUILTY?
THE FACT IS, YOU ARE A SINNER. ARE YOU WILLING TO REPENT AND CONFESS THAT JESUS IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
God, Who is Just and Holy, just said that you were guilty. There is only one place that He can send you when you die. HELL!
Romans 6:23, “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
John 3:18, “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
NOTE: Believing is more than your mind’s knowledge of Jesus. It is more than your belief that He exists. (KEEP READING)
Revelation 20:14-15, “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
THE FACT IS, IF YOU DIE IN YOUR SIN, YOU WILL SPEND ETERNITY IN THE LAKE OF FIRE, WHERE THEIR WORM DIETH NOT AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. (Mark 9)
HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL? ______
Aren’t you glad that is not the end of the story!
THE FACT IS, JESUS PAID YOUR SIN DEBT ON THE CROSS WITH HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD. JESUS WAS BURIED AND ROSE FROM THE GRAVE SO THAT YOU CAN NOT JUST HAVE LIFE, BUT LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY!!!
Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
THE FACT IS, JESUS WANTS TO SAVE YOU AND YOU CAN COME TO HIM NOW AND BE SAVED, BY FAITH!!!
I TIMOTHY 2:3, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
JOHN 6:37, “. . . him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.”
JOHN 14:6, “ I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father but by ME.”
ROMANS 10:9, 10, 13, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. …. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
NOTE: When you “believe” in your heart on the Lord Jesus, this means that you are TOTALLY DEPENDING ON JESUS, RELYING SOLELY ON JESUS BY FAITH AS YOUR ONLY HOPE FOR HEAVEN!
This means you are looking unto Jesus and nothing else!
EPHESIANS 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
ROMANS 6:23, “. . . but the GIFT of God is eternal life THROUGH JESUS CHRIST our Lord.”
JOHN 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
I JOHN 5:14-15, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
